La Bourrine du bois juquaud
Come visit this authentic set of earthen constructions covered in reed. It demonstrates life in the Breton marshes during the last century. The museum will introduce you to the different techniques and know-how of the past through a variety of media. The museum is open from April to September and guided tours are organized in July and August.
The national forest extends over a large part of the Vendée coast just outside the hotel’s entrance. With family or friends, you can walk along the marked trails, enjoy the fitness trail or picnic under the pines.
Vendée is famous for its bike paths. They extend over 1,150 km and are adapted to all different skill levels. One of the best known trails is “La Boucle des artisans”. For about 35 km, you will have the opportunity, heading towards Saint-Jean-de-Monts, to discover the lifestyle of the salt farmers of the Vendée marshes, with the famous Bourrine à Rosalie house, and not far from there, an authentic windmill still in operation.
By the sea, you will walk to see the famous “Trou du diable” (Devil’s hole) or the “Rocher des Cinq Pineaux, along the Vendée cliff (national historic site since 1962). Discover the 600-hectare national forest filled with oak trees and maritime pines and explore the endless possibilities on foot, by bike, on horseback, etc. Choose one of the marked trails or fitness trail and take a break in one of the many picnic areas.
